Lady Bearcats Erase 14-Point First Quarter Deficit To Remain Undefeated

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Rust College women's basketball program overcame its biggest adversity of GCAC competition, trailing for most of the first half before storming back to beat one of its biggest competitors for the conference crown, 71-65.

 

RC clawed back into the contest by disrupting the Lady Bulldogs offense with 32 turnovers for a plus-17 margin and outscoring Fisk by 43 points off the pine (46-3).

 

Karyn Ford was the team's top scorer with 14 while shooting 5-for-8 (62.5%) with Shuntorri Rodgers right behind her at 13 points and a tied for team-best three steals.

 

Katie Blackmon fronted Coach Jackson's bunch in four of the five statistical categories; boards (7), assists (4), steals (3), and blocks (2); and Bowers tied for the top rebounding spot.

 

The Blue and White will conclude its home-and-home series with Arkansas Baptist on Monday, January 30 at 5:30 p.m. in Little Rock, looking for a season sweep after handling ABC by a score of 68-40 in the campaign opener.
