Win Streak Hits Double-Digits As Women Clobber SUNO

HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. - The Rust College women's basketball program won its tenth straight contest in easy fashion, putting up 30 points in the first quarter alone as they dismantled the Lady Knights, 97-55.

The Lady Cats got their turn to host the pod and gladly made themselves feel right at home, claiming the edge in every statistical category possible to put a stranglehold on the outcome within minutes.

Rust out-shot them (50% to 35.6%), out-rebounded them (46 to 32), netted a +12 turnover margin (13 to 25), and had twice as many steals (18 to 9).

Katie Blackmon has a double-double but what else is new? The six-foot-one Junior from Olive Branch had game-highs for points (17) and rebounds (10) while nearly going perfect from both the line (5-of-5) as well as the floor (6-for-7, 85.7%). The All-Conference center averaged an incredible point per minute played with 17 points in as many minutes.

Amelya Hatch was responsible for 28% of the team's gaudy total of 25 assists, gifting a contest-best seven helpers plus seven points and a trio of boards.

Zoe Alexander and Ky'Lie Scott shared the evening's top steals number at four apiece despite not scoring a single bucket between the two while Taniah Bowers was responsible for all three blocks by the Blue and White on the night.

Three student-athletes joined Blackmon with a double-figure number in the scoring column as Faith Cattouse logged 13, Dekeriya Patterson recorded 12, and Lyric Turner put up 11.

The women will not have to wait long to get back to the grind, taking on Oakwood University Saturday evening at 5 p.m. inside Kinzell Lawson Gymnasium.
