Women Drop Into Possible Three-Way Tie For First After Falling To Fisk

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Rust College women's basketball program lost its second straight game in GCAC competition for the first time since February 10 and 15 of 2019 when they fell in back-to-back contests versus Talladega.

Despite dominating in the turnover margin (+11), second chance points (25-5) and points off the bench (31-9), Coach Jackson's group could not overcome being outshot in all phases as the seesaw battle saw 14 ties to go along with ten lead changes.

Starter Lyric Turner and reserve Niya McGuire shared the scoring lead for the Cats with a dozen each plus seven rebounds, four steals, two assists, and a 42.3% field goal percentage between them.

Katie Blackmon topped the team with eight boards on top of a tied for contest-best three assists, adding six points and a steal to her line over 19 minutes of work.

Amelya Hatch and Taniah Bowers came together to start a Lady Bulldog crime spree, intercepting four passes apiece to help the Blue and White more than double Fisk's steal tally, 19-9.

Every game matters just a little bit more with that last defeat as the Lady Bearcats must win out to guarantee themselves a third consecutive regular season championship, beginning with Dillard at noon on Saturday.
