Lady Bearcats Advance To NAIA Second Round After Dominant Fourth Quarter

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Rust College women's basketball program has won its First Round matchup in the NAIA Tournament for the second straight season, using a massive 25-7 advantage in the fourth quarter in which they shot just under 53% and holding #8 Faulkner to 2-of-12 (16.7%) from the floor to survive and advance, 71-51.

The Cats obtained a double-digit rebounding margin (37-27, +10), a plus-eight turnover margin (21-13), and received a whopping 53 points off the bench to the Eagles' six.

Niya McGuire and Ky'Lie Scott were the contest's top-two scorers, both reserves, dropping 18 and 14 points, respectively. The duo went a blistering 14-for-21 (66.7%) with nine rebounds, five assists, three steals, and a pair of three-pointers.

Katie Blackmon notched a game-high nine boards plus a trio of steals, a pair of points and assists, as well as a rejection.

Taniah Bowers had a down shooting evening but more than made up for it by dishing out a contest-best five dimes and swiping a matchup-most four steals.

The top-seeded hosts of Campbellsville are the only thing standing between the Lady Bearcats and its first ever trip to the Round of 16 with tip-off taking place at 6 p.m. on Wednesday night in the Powell Athletic Center.
