Amelya Hatch Recognized By White House As HBCU STEM Scholar

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Rust College women's basketball program has shone brightly both on the court and in the classroom with the latest accomplishment coming from junior point guard Amelya Hatch who was selected as a distinguished scholar for the 2023 HBCU Scholar Recognition Program by the White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

 

Hatch, a gifted Biology major and a formidable student-athlete, hails from Ripley, Mississippi. She exemplifies the spirit of excellence that Rust College cultivates in its students.

 

The remarkable scholar will be honored at the upcoming HBCU Week Conference, scheduled for September 24-28, 2023, at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City at Reagan National Airport.

 

The HBCU Scholar Recognition Program seeks to celebrate and elevate students who embody the core values of scholarship, leadership, entrepreneurship, and civic engagement. It is a testament to the commitment of HBCUs and their students to advancing equity and fostering excellence.
