Lady Bearcats Ride Hot Shooting Past West Virginia Tech

KINGSPORT, Tenn. – The Rust College women's basketball program went 31-for-62 (50%) from the court and 12-of-23 (52.2%) from three-point land, caging the Golden Bears on the strength of a 28-point second quarter to earn their seventh victory in-a-row, 87-62, in the first contest of the holiday tournament.

  • Shuntorri Rodgers perfectly encapsulated just how scorching the Blue and White were, making all five of her field goal attempts, four from deep, as she dropped 14 points in 17 minutes to go along with four assists, three steals plus a block.

 

  • Blesseth Dillingham continues to shine in off-ball situations, recording a contest-best six assists and four steals, making four free throws and a bucket in addition to three rebounds.

 

  • Diamond Sweats and Dekeriya Patterson were the one-two punch at the top of the lineup for Coach Jackson Jr., adding 29 points on 11-of-19 (57.9%) to the scoreboard via their own accord.

 

  • Sweats was dominant per usual, hitting 60% (6-for-10) with a trio of steals, a pair of assists and rebounds, and a long ball while Patterson made all five of her field goals from distance.

 

  • Ahmari Young put up a ten-spot in only 13 minutes on WV Tech and teammate Makaila Brown was the game leader for rebounding at seven.
