McGuire’s 21 Points Leads Women To Blowout At Southern-New Orleans
NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Rust College women's basketball program stormed The Castle and slayed the Knights of SUNO with a runaway 89-52 victory to run its winning streak in conference contests to ten-in-a-row counting the 2023 GCAC Tournament.

Rust Top Performers:
- Niya McGuire was deadly efficient and accurate at the same time, pouring in a game-high 21 points over just 20 minutes on 9-of-10 (90%) shooting on top of three rebounds, two assists, two steals, and a blocked shot.
- Makaila Brown pretty much had one goal; snag as many boards as possible, averaging a rebound every 30 seconds and a steal/point for each minute on the floor with four apiece.
- Five Lady Bearcats posted double-digits in the scoring category including McGuire as Diamond Sweats had 10 while Dekeriya Patterson (13), Musharapha Alhassan (11) and Kennedi Green (10) made their presence felt as reserves.
