Philander Smith Snaps Women’s Eight-Game GCAC Winning Streak

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Rust College women's basketball program saw its eight-game Gulf Coast Athletic Conference regular season winning streak come to an end on Saturday afternoon as the Lady Panthers handed RC its first setback against conference foes since February 10, 2023 with a 77-68 triumph.

Rust Top Performers: 

 

  • Niya McGuire was the only student-athlete that could get anything going offensively, scoring a game-high 24 points over 25 minutes off the bench as she swished 12-of-14 shots (85.7%).

 

  • Zoe Alexander fronted the Blue and White with five assists and was second offensively behind McGuire at nine points.

 

  • Shuntorri Rodgers accounted for a game-best three steals as both sides accumulated just seven between them.

 

  • Musharapha Alhassan rejected two of the contest's four blocks, the lone two swats for Rust, while Karyn Ford grabbed a Bearcat-best six boards.
