Eric Jackson Jr. Surpasses A.J. Stovall For Most Wins In Program History

CHARLOTTE AMALIE WEST, U.S. Virgin Islands – The Rust College women's basketball program helped guide alumni and Head Coach Eric Jackson Jr. to the mountaintop, leapfrogging A.J. Stovall for the top spot all-time with win number 142 over the Virgin Islands Buccaneers on Thursday evening by a final of 73-48.

In seven seasons at the helm, he has compiled an impressive 142-41 overall record and a 54-16 (77.1%) mark in Gulf Coast Conference play with the Lady Bearcats while notching his 200th career win across the collegiate coaching level with the victory over Oakwood, collecting 59 victories with Concordia (Alabama).

His winning percentage donning the Blue and White of 77.6% currently sits 5.3 percentage points behind Stovall for the best winning percentage in school history while his seven years in Holly Springs is the second-longest tenure of any leader behind only Nancy Binion's nine.

Rust Top Performers: 

• Niya McGuire was electric, drilling 9-of-11 (81.8%) field goal attempts for a game-high 18 points on top of a half-dozen boards.

• Amelya Hatch chipped in a healthy 12 points, the only other student-athlete in double-digits as well as a quartet of rebounds.

• Musharapha Alhassan was solid across the board, leading all participants by corralling nine rebounds in addition to eight points on 4-for-5 (80%) plus multiple steals.

• The trio of Blesseth Dillingham (4), Diamond Sweats (3), and Kennedi Green (3) were top-notch floor generals while Ahmari Young provided nine points.

• Jackson and RC will look to start putting some distance between second-place on the coaching list by stacking more dubs on Wednesday night at Oakwood University (5:30 p.m.).
