Volleyball Handles Miles, Sweeps Season Series

FAIRFIELD, Ala. – The Rust College volleyball program went on the road to the NCAA Division II's Miles College and got a statement victory, defeating the Golden Bears in straight sets (25-20, 25-21, 25-22) with a balanced showing.

The Lady Bearcats (2-7) did most of its damage behind the service line, accumulating a ludicrous 15 aces with Miles having only six.

Coach Dewberry's squad set the tone for the evening above the net, swatting down nine blocks as a team including seven solos.

DhaMonique Sanders was a jack-of-all-trades, posting seven service aces, seven blocks (six solo), five kills and hit .333 on 12 swings to rack up 18.5 points.

Alandria Calhoun led the attack on offense as she was the only player on either side to log double-figure kills (10), recording a .429 hitting percentage with just one error while tacking on at least one of each major stat (aces, digs, blocks, and assists).

The defensive display was a collaborative effort as ten different Lady Bearcats logged a dig, led by top setter Kennedi Coleman (8 assists, 7 digs).

Chrusia Wilks must have took some serving tips from Sanders because her deliveries were nearly as lethal, watching five of her serves hit the floor to go along with five digs on the defensive side of the net.
