Volleyball Splits Season Opening Doubleheader At Dragon Classic

JACKSON, Tenn. – The Rust College volleyball program started off the Zuzana Armstrong era with a victory in her second match as Head Coach, sweeping the Tougaloo Lady Bulldogs at the Dragon Classic on the campus of Lane College on Friday afternoon.

Sisters Jasmine and Michelene Coleman shared the team lead with ten kills apiece versus Talladega and Tougaloo while combining for a hitting percentage of .200, including 16 kills and just four errors over 39 attacks (.308) in the win against the Lady Bulldogs.

Jelisa Alexander had the program's first double-double of the young season, racking up a team-best 21 assists plus a game-high 13 digs in the nightcap.

Deja Campbell was the only other Lady Bearcat to hit double-figures in a statistical category, contributing ten digs to go along with five kills and two blocks opposite TC.

Rust will cap off the tournament with a pair of matchups on Saturday with fellow GCAC member Oakwood in the morning for a non-conference battle at 10 a.m. and concluding with the host Lane Dragons at 4 p.m.
