Volleyball Hangs Tough Despite Losses To Talladega & Lane

JACKSON, Tenn. – The Rust College volleyball program fought hard against two high quality programs in Talladega (NAIA) and Lane (NCAA DII) but ultimately dropped both matchups by similar 3-0 scores.

 

RC was able to out-hit both the Tornadoes and Dragons, besting the former by over 100 points with a .265 hitting percentage while going for a robust .304 compared to Lane's .286.

 

Jelisa Alexander had a fantastic afternoon, averaging seven assists per set with ten digs and a pair of service aces in each outing.

 

JaBria Simmons logged seven kills to only one error in 12 attack attempts for a sparkling .500 hitting percentage as she had an extremely efficient day.

 

Alandria Calhoun recorded just over a kill per set (1.33) on top of four digs and a block assist.

 

Once again, Jasmine Coleman led the offensive charge with 13 kills (2.17 p/s) and a whopping nine aces (1.50 p/s)

 

The Blue and White will make its home debut against fellow HBCU Miles College at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, August 30 inside the W.A. McMillan Center.
