Volleyball Takes Down LeMoyne-Owen In Front Of Raucous Home Crowd
HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. – The Rust College volleyball program fed off the energy of a loud and passionate student section, winning the final three sets to knock off the rival Lady Magicians, 3-1.
A monster third set proved to be pivotal for Head Coach Zuzana Armstrong's Lady Bearcats, amassing 15 kills and a .263 hitting percentage to take the lead, 2-1.
Deja Campbell continues to be impressive on both offense and defense, logging a double-double of 11 digs and ten kills as well as three blocks.
Sisters Jasmine and Michelene Coleman were equally noteworthy, as each fell one stat shy of their own double-doubles with the former collecting nine kills and a team-best 12 digs while the latter led Rust College in kills (11) plus nine digs. Michelene also lived above the net and acted as a wall on the front line, rejecting five attacks for blocks.
Jelisa Alexander was the third RC player to come up painfully short of a double-double, averaging 8.25 assists per set (33 total) and nine digs.
The Blue and White will attempt to start a win streak on Saturday in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas when the Lady Bearcats travel to Williams Baptist for a 2 p.m. first serve.
