Fifth-Seeded Volleyball’s Breakthrough Season Ends In GCAC Quarterfinals

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The fifth-seeded Rust College volleyball program took the first set from the Wiley Lady Wildcats inside Dent Hall but dropped the following three as its best season in years came to an unfortunate end, 3-1.

 

Jasmine Coleman wrapped up her two-sport tenure in Holly Springs with an exclamation point, clubbing a game-high 17 kills (4.25 p/s), a team-best two service aces, and ten digs (2.50 p/s) for a spectacular double-double showing.

 

Deja Campbell was the best defender on the floor, notching a game-best 18 digs (4.50 p/s) while also picking up a solo block and five kills.

 

Michelene Coleman was the most efficient offensive weapon in Coach Armstrong's arsenal, dropping eight kills on 20 attacks with just three errors for a .250 hitting percentage to go along with seven digs, two aces, a pair of blocks, and an assist.

 

Jelisa Alexander will be one of the top returners for the Blue and White in 2023, averaging seven assists per set (28 total) in the season finale.
