Volleyball Picks Up First Win Of Season With Five-Set Thriller vs. Stillman

HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. – The Rust College volleyball program received a near double-double from Paige Eason and withstood a feisty Stillman squad to open its home slate with a dub, 3-2 on Friday night.

Rust Top Performers:

  

Paige Eason broke through the double-digit kill barrier for the first of many times to come, smoking 11 kills and nine digs to lead the Lady Bearcats in both categories, falling just shy of a double-double. She also tacked on a season-most three aces from the service line.

 

 

•  Saraih Taylor had the match of her life so far, doubling her previous high by going for 22 assists plus a half-dozen digs.

 

•  Amya Madlock tripled her previous career-best for aces with three, doubled her career-high for points at four and set a new career-most for digs as well by recording eight.

 

•  Markeoni Thomas topped all match participants with a trio of blocks (1 solo, 2 assists) to go along with five kills while Syriah Williams almost put together double-figure assists (9).

 

•  Gabriella Gabriel seemed to be really fond of the number eight, tallying that amount of both kills and digs for new personal-records.

 

•  Jamika Coleman also joined her teammates in setting personal benchmarks, slamming eight kills plus both a block solo and assist.

 

•  Latissia 'Kami' Porter logged her first kill as a collegian, her first two aces, and a season-best four digs.

 

Notes:

 

•  The Blue and White blew its previous team-highs away on Friday, setting new bests for points (63), kills (42), assists (37), digs (45), and service aces (37).

 

• RC has not lost a match that went the distance since the start of 2021, improving its mark to 4-0 since that time and 2-0 in non-conference.
