Watkins & Strothers Combine For 50, Bearcats Hang 100 On Pioneers

HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. – The Rust College men's basketball program took out some frustrations from the previous night's exhibition loss at Troy on winless Crowley's Ridge, pummeling the Pioneers by a score of 100-80 in front of the home faithful.

RC was blistering hot from the floor while cashing in on one-third of its three-point attempts (7-of-21), converting on an absurd 60% of its field goal attempts (42-for-70).

Leading the way was Jordan Watkins who dropped 29 points while gathering 13 rebounds and three assists to top the Blue and White in all three categories. The junior from Pensacola, Florida connected on 12-of-19 (63%) field goal tries, was a perfect 4-for-4 from the charity stripe and swiped three steals as well.

Not to be overshadowed by Watkins was Ronald Strothers' huge performance, pouring on 21 points on 50% shooting (8-of-16, 5-for-10 from three) with an additional three boards, three assists and a steal.

Wesley Anderson and Christopher Agbo each collected ten points a pop with the former going 5-for-6 (83%) and the latter grabbing six rebounds plus a game-best three blocks.

The men from Holly Springs will go back up two levels in competition on Saturday when it faces Memphis-based HBCU and longtime rival LeMoyne-Owen at 3 p.m. on the road.
