Lady Cats Beat Williams Baptist, Drops All Four In Labor Day Tournament

HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. / HENDERSON, Tenn. – The Rust College volleyball program collected its second straight nail-biter on Thursday when it took down WBU in five but did not fare as well at Freed-Hardeman falling to Central Baptist (3-1), Tennessee Southern (3-0), Northwestern Ohio (3-0), and Johnson-Tennessee (3-1).

 

Rust Top Performers:

 

  • Gabriella Gabriel led the team during the five matches with 28 kills for an average of 1.47 per set including a Bearcat-best 15 in the victory vs. Williams Baptist.

 

  • Annie Narvaez put together an exact 50-burger's worth of digs (2.63 p/s) in addition to 13 helpers.

 

  • Saraih Taylor logged 2.95 assists per set (56 total), recording her first career double-double against the Eagles at 22 assists plus 15 digs.

 

  • Amya Madlock put together eight service aces (0.42 p/s) to front the Cats in addition to 24 digs (1.26 p/s).

 

  • Nyah Mason joined Taylor in the double-double newcomers club in the same match, tallying 14 assists and 11 digs while Jamika Coleman threw herself a mini block party, rejecting seven attacks.
